A Day in Deer Lodge

I'm spending the day in wonderful Siloam Springs with two of my favorite people. Amber got back yesterday so I'm with her an Lizzie. BIG PLANS! Low key day and then go to Olive Garden for unlimited salad and breadsticks, ended by Habibi hookah and drinks. Can't wait.

Because I'm only working Monday through Wednesday right now I get to spend my Thursday's and Friday's doing nothing. Yesterday was very fun though. Went to target to embark on my project of creating a sanctuary on the back porch but turns out as soon as August hits there is no longer a need for patio furniture, except at Pier One where it costs hundreds of dollars. That project is on hold. After coming home I played ball with Titus and had a beer all afternoon. The weather has been so nice due to the monsoon. Our hummingbird feeder is a huge hit with the neighborhood birds. I was trying to be Harriet the Spy and get close to take pictures. Who knew that these little birds were kamikazes? They were seriously trying to attack my head. I'm terrified of them.

So let's talk life...

Oh, there is something going on with the stars or something. I'm a rollercoaster. I mean, really this isn't different than any other time of the year, I'm always kind of up-and-down. I probably should be on some sort of medication. I did cook a few times this weekend. Lasagna on Saturday! Who knew!?

This morning I was driving to work and there was a spider on my leg getting on the 540 onramp. I almost crashed into a silver car of some kind, like I know, but turns out it was just a baby caterpillar. phew.

So my diet is the main thing in my life right now. Haven't really been running, or eating well, or really doing anything but eating Harley's food and laying on the couch. I've felt myself grow a little bit, especially from post-Denver for those of you that remember that. I kind of liked feeling my hip bones and having skinny legs for once in my life. But 30 LBs and only 11 months later... So I've started my running again. Damn I'm getting old. I used to be able to pick up running and get a 4 mile run in off the bat. I made it to the corner by the store and back on my first day, barely. Almost a mile, maybe? My key has been my new blender. All of $25 but I've been buying strawberries and bananas and soy and making myself some Smoothie Queen treats. Love them. Also salads. I have to add some feta. But I'm doing it. Already I feel better. I just can't let myself get into the anorexic Alex that runs twice a day and forgets to eat. I'm hoping this works and if not I guess I'll have to do my Denver diet: spend all my money on my jobless ex and his dog and eat nothing but tomato soup and beer. Works! Hopefully me saying that isn't bad karma.

Anyhow, that's all I got for now. Back to work.

Thank god for fashionista weddings

So I hope I don't get into trouble for posting these pics but here they are.

One of my favorite weddings of all time! My roomie through multiple countries and tiny living quarters and the Eliz, America's Next Top Model. She's got her signature face and pose down better than Tyra, let's be honest. So yea, they were of course insistent in getting pictures that were traditional but also really awesome, alex-art types. I was so excited and they did not fail me. Here's just a taste at the pictures to come. Congrats Luke and Eliz Hayes, good luck and many sets of salmon lingerie!

Momma Art

So my first post on this new blog.  I used to write a lot on my old blog but I'm tired of it and moving onto this one.  Promise I'll be writing so promise you will be ready.  Ok ready?  Set...

I finally got to Wichita this weekend.  Went home for old friend Katie Funk{face}'s wedding and my momma's birthday on Thursday {the 6th}.  Blast.  Olive Garden on Thursday and then Pei Wei and QuikTrip taquitos every day after that.  Obese.  Lots of drinking.  Emily Gilbert flew in from LA {wedding is the only reason to come to Wichita but hey, KTF-D}.

So onto my momma.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer early this year.  I've never written this so it's a little weird and making this post a little to serious for me.  But anyway, it's a very strong cancer, so she had a double hysterectomy and vasectomy {I may have got those backwards}.  That was the week after graduation so that was the last time I saw her and she was tired and in a bed so she looked normal.  This weekend I saw her for the first time on chemo.  She's doing 6 sessions of it and she just finished her 3rd.  Half-way there!  Done on October 1st so we're all looking forward to that.  She can't really eat because she has no taste and she ate a killer {bad for her, AMAZING for emily and I.  these were mutant strawberries that literally tasted like candy} strawberries that made her tongue blister and turn purple.  There are some hard times but honestly she is doing really well.

Ok now that everyone is caught up, check out these photos I took of her real quick.  Talk to you all later.  Promise the next post will be less of a downer.  Love.
